Aims
This Medication Training Course is aimed at staff who are responsible for the handling, administering
and disposal of medication within a care environment. Whether that be nurses, carers or community
support workers. The Safer Medication Handling Training will aim to improve delegate’s knowledge of the different types
of medication, the various routes, the 7’Rs, errors and correct documentation.
The aim is to teach delegates best practice and cover current regulations and legislation. The aim of
this is to improve their confidence when dealing with service users and their medication.
Medication Training Course Summary:
Module 1 – Policies. Legislation. CQC
Module 2 – Medication. Routes. Formulation. Types. Absorption
Module 3 – MDT, Roles and Responsibilities. Levels of support. Boundaries and agreed ways of working.
Module 4 – Order. Receive. Store. Record. Transfer. Dispose.
Module 5 – 7 R’s. Group Work, Sources of info. Practical session including MAR Charts.
Module 6 – Risk Assessments. Person Centred Care. Review. Covert. Consent. Refuse.
Module 7 – Errors and action
Module 8 – Infection Control and Technique.

This course last approximately 6 hours
Certification
Delegates will be issued with certificates of attendance valid for a period of 1 year
